I started out well meaning. My father and his wife of ten years had been killed in a car accident. It wasn’t something anyone could have predicted or prepared for. It was a shock to us all. It had been especially hard on Jenna. She was only nineteen and was lost and alone. The right thing to do was to have her stay with me until she got on her feet.
I didn’t know Jenna well. She is technically my stepsister, but I hadn’t been around much since our parents married. Being already twenty at the time, I was out living my life. I was already riding with the Sons of Scion by then. It was the same story for my brothers Nick and Jed. Brett was the youngest of us and the only one who had spent much time with the family. The problem was that he wasn’t in any position to take in a barely nineteen-year-old girl. Truth was, none of us were capable of it. The biker lifestyle doesn’t make for a stable life. The night club business certainly doesn’t make it any better.
